Te Korowai Pūtahi Manawa - Community-led kaupapa Māori heart health research project funding.
Pūtahi Manawa are pleased to announce funding for community-led kaupapa Māori research projects focused on heart health.
We will fund projects between $50k and $250k, for up to three years duration. All projects must finish by December 2028.
Expressions of interest will open on 6 Feb 2025 and close at the end of March 2025.
In April 2025 potential applicants will meet with Pūtahi Manawa to kōrero about their research plan and what support they might need. After this hui, invitations to submit a full application will be given. Full applications can be written in te reo Māori or English.
Community researchers are encouraged to apply. Pūtahi Manawa can offer support with:
- Connecting with an experienced researcher/mentor
- Refining the research question and writing a proposal
- Writing a budget
- Writing a CV
- Searching the literature
- Ethics applications

Māori Postgraduate Scholarships
These scholarships provide direct support for Māori students studying for a Masters or Bachelor with Honours degree, which includes heart health research, in Aotearoa New Zealand. The scholarship provide support for up to two years, with a stipend of $23,500 per year, tuition fees and $7,000 for research expenses.

Pūtahi Manawa travel grants are designed to support Pūtahi Manawa researchers, collaborators and community partners to travel for purposes such as building relationships, gaining new research skills, forging research collaborations, and presenting their research. There is no closing date; applications are welcome at any time.
